Backyard Shenanigans

June 9th, 2008

Graham’s friend Harris came over to play this morning.  The guys ate some fruit and then played all morning in the backyard.  We’re having a crazy heat wave, so Kristi set up the sprinkler for the boys to jump through.

Needless to say, they had a blast running around and giggling.  After they dried off, the guys made pretzel necklaces — an art project you can eat!

Reid in the Exersaucer

May 20th, 2008

Reid is starting to enjoy playing in the Exersaucer.  He is starting to play with the toys, etc. and of course he has his big brother Graham to help him see what they all do.

Catching up on pictures

May 5th, 2008

Have you seen our latest pictures?  Just in the last week, I have posted pictures from Reid’s baptism, some pictures of him in his bear hat, a few photos of Graham from his ear surgery and a costume party, and finally a bunch of snaps from Rookie Sports Family Day at the YMCA.  Graham earned a medal and certificate; both with his name on them.

Surgery successful!

April 18th, 2008

Graham’s surgery was yesterday; he had his adenoids removed, new ear tubes put in, and a skin allergy test done.  We were supposed to be at the hospital at 8:15am for the 10:15am procedure.  The surgeons experienced some difficulty with their first patient of the day (thankfully no life-threatening complications or anything), so Graham’s procedure was delayed almost an hour and a half.  He was a very good boy and cute while were waiting.

About 10 minutes before they took him into the OR, the nurse gave Graham some medicine meant to relax him in order to reduce the anxiety that inevitably children feel.  It was mostly taking effect when they wheeled him away, but Kristi and I will never forget the sad look bordering betrayal on his face, and the tears starting to form as we said goodbye to him.  We were crushed!

In any case, the actual procedure took only 35 minutes and everything went well.  We talked to the doctor and were shortly summoned to recovery to be with him as he came out of the anesthesia.  Now, Graham doesn’t wake up well even from naps on a normal day, so (as we expected) he was really foul when he realized he was in the hospital and he had a pulse oxygen meter on his finger and an IV in his hand.  Yeah, not happy about that.

So it took him awhile to calm down, but then he finally ate 3 popsicles (2 red, 1 green) and could be discharged.  We had explained to Graham that he’d be going to sleep so the doctor could check his ears.  No need in telling him all about exactly what would happen.  We were sitting in his recovery room, rocking in a chair and he said, `Daddy!  The doctor forgot to check my ears!`  So thankfully, he didn’t remember anything at all.

As we snuggled and walked out of the hospital toward our car, he said `thanks for taking me to the hospital, Daddy…`  So we’re back to normal.  :-)

Newest pictures

We’ve uploaded a ton of new pictures from the Easter holiday.  A few of our new collections include a great visit with Great-Nana and Great-Papa, where they got to meet Reid in person.  Both boys were good!  We also have some fun pictures from Grandaddy’s and Sassy’s house, and a trip to Nana’s house during Easter.

There are also a few funny pictures of Reid and Graham at bath time — that’s a never ending source of entertainment.  We put the guys together in the tub and they loved it.  OK, well Graham loved it and Reid was just his normal self, heh heh.  He’s still a bit young to get what’s going on:

We can still get away with dressing him up funny.  He’s such a good baby!
