Memorial Day Fun

May 27th, 2008

Our family had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.  We first went to the NC Zoo, which is the nation’s largest walk-through natural-habitat zoo.  We saw tons of animals up close, and got some great pictures.  We got there as early as we could, and I think we beat most of the crowd.  The boys did a great job of making it all day, considering that they did not get their normal nap.  Graham was mesmerized by the Harbor Seals and Sea Lions; I think they were his favorite.

He was very excited to see the Polar Bears; but Willy was feeling very lazy when we got there. He was not all about moving around; he just slept sprawled out on the rocks.

We saw Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Ostriches, Bears, Cougars, Alligators, Rhinoceroses, and lots more.  Be sure to check out all the pictures we took from the trip!

The following day was the first day of pool season at our neighborhood club.  Daddy and Graham cruised out there in the late afternoon.  We figured that it’d be packed right at the beginning on opening day, and also the water was a tad chilly since it is very early summer.  Graham jumped in the big pool twice, and played in the baby pool a lot.  We had a great time, but only stayed about an hour.

However, after pool time, we came home and our family quickly ate dinner outside so that we could make s’mores in the back yard!  We have a little decorative fire pit thingy that we placed on the back patio (naturally, we had water and baking soda in case the fire got out of control)(it didn’t).  It was a big hit, although Graham was somewhat partial to the marshmallows, and Reid didn’t get to have any.

Yum!

So that was a ton of fun…  The next day we packed up a picnic lunch and headed to the pool, where we hung out with friends and swam for a couple of hours.  It was busy, but bearable considering the date.  The water was still a little chilly, but Graham jumped in, and watched Daddy jump off the diving board, and all that stuff.  Reid is still a little young to be slathered with sunscreen, but he dipped his feet in the baby pool (and did not like it).

Other than that, we ate al fresco on the back patio for several meals, and really enjoyed the nice weather.

Mother’s Day

During Mother’s Day week, Kristi enjoyed a Mommies Party at preschool, which was lots of fun. We had a great Mother’s Day visit with Sassy and Grandaddy.  We also visited with Graham’s and Reid’s Great-Nana and Great-Papa, which they enjoyed immensely!

Reid’s Baptism

April 28th, 2008

This past weekend, our son Reid was baptized at church.  It was a big day for us, with some family and friends in attendance.  Reid did a great job and didn’t mind a little water on his head at all!  Big brother Graham also did an excellent job; he walked down the aisle with our Pastor when he introduced Reid to the congregation.

After the ceremony, we took our family and friends to one of our favorite downtown restaurants for a big brunch, which was excellent.  The boys were very well behaved!  Then, we came home and Graham, Reid, and his cousins Darien and Corinne played a ton outside.  They blew bubbles, they played soccer, had some popsicles — a great afternoon!

Check out some pictures from after the ceremony!

A Summer of Fun!

April 16th, 2008

We have a great summer planned so far.  Graham is now signed up for Vacation Bible School, and we have family trips planned to the North Carolina coast as well as our annual Cape Cod trip.  Besides these trips, we’re ready to get going on grill and pool season here.

I think we might get crazy and buy a new grill this year.  The one we have now was a wedding present from some friends; it’s sneaking up on 10 years of solid use.  I’ve replaced the innards of it a few times, and slapped some black matte grill paint on it to keep it serviceable; I’d have to say it’s been a good friend.

What about you, loyal readers?  Any fun plans coming up for the sunny season?

Newest pictures

We’ve uploaded a ton of new pictures from the Easter holiday.  A few of our new collections include a great visit with Great-Nana and Great-Papa, where they got to meet Reid in person.  Both boys were good!  We also have some fun pictures from Grandaddy’s and Sassy’s house, and a trip to Nana’s house during Easter.

There are also a few funny pictures of Reid and Graham at bath time — that’s a never ending source of entertainment.  We put the guys together in the tub and they loved it.  OK, well Graham loved it and Reid was just his normal self, heh heh.  He’s still a bit young to get what’s going on:

We can still get away with dressing him up funny.  He’s such a good baby!
