Not that there’s anything wrong with that

Last night we were sitting on the sofa relaxing after dinner, and Graham asked to see my wedding ring.  So I took it off and let him look at it.

As he turned it over and tried it on, Graham asked me lots of questions, why is it gold, etc.  I told him it was a special ring because Mommy gave it to me, etc.  Then I told him that maybe when he grows up, a girl will give him a ring like that.  He said:

“No, Daddy, a boy will give me a new ring!”

Right.

Bird Poop?

This morning, I’m sitting here working and Graham brings me a picture of Kristi from high school.  I keep that picture because Kristi still looks exactly the same; she’s one of those girls who doesn’t really need makeup, one who ages gracefully, and has beautiful skin.  Anyway, in the picture Kristi is wearing some “dangly” earrings and Graham says to me:

“Daddy, here’s a picture of Mommy.  But she has bird poop on her head.”

Awesome 4th of July Weekend

July 9th, 2008

We had a fun family weekend at home over the Independence Day weekend.  Thursday afternoon, Kristi and the boys went to the farmer’s market, and got lots of great veggies and fresh fruit for us.  Then we went out for dinner and ice cream!  Since I didn’t have work on Friday, we just hung out at the house and ran a few errands, but then we took Graham and Reid to see the new Disney movie WALL-E.  It was their first time at the movie theater, and they had a blast!

Afterward we just grabbed dinner at Chick-fil-A since it’s right there next to the theater.  Sadly due to the rainy evening we didn’t get to experience any fireworks, but that was okay since the guys could only concentrate on WALL-E!

Saturday, Graham and I got up and went out to grab donuts and coffee for breakfast, which was cool.  We mainly just hung around the house in the morning, but then we packed a picnic lunch and headed to the pool for the rest of the day.  We hung out until well after naptime, and then came home and cooked baby back ribs and fresh corn for dinner.  Graham even had a small ear of corn.

Sunday we really did lay low, basking the glow of all the fun we’d already had.  We took some pictures of the baby birds living in our yard this summer.  Then as a special surprise, we took the boys to a baseball game in the late afternoon!  We have a triple A team the next town over, and it’s great to head to the ballpark for an afternoon game.  Our team started out slowly, but we got to see a home run and several nice hits.

Take me out to the ballgame!

This was another first for the kids.  We really had fun although it was super-humid.  Graham loved seeing the mascot Wool E. Bull, the games that were played between innings, and of course he had a thousand questions about the game and what was going on.  Be sure to check out all our pictures from the game.

We thankfully got seats under the covered area behind home plate, because it started pouring rain in the middle of the 6th inning.  That was okay, because it was bedtime about then anyway.  We bought a new hat for Graham, and we headed home and got to bed!

Big-time family fun weekend!
