The Legend of There Will Be Disappointment in a Country for Old Men

So, with 2 small children there is not a ton of time for adult themed movies.  However, we take advantage of Netflix since going out to the theater is so expensive (think babysitters, snacks, etc.).

Recently, we saw I Am Legend, There Will Be Blood, and No Country For Old Men.  All three are award-nominated movies, and in the case of the latter two, multiple Oscar winners.  Needless to say, I had built them up in my mind as being great movies.  I was disappointed with all three, on multiple levels.

None of these 3 were all that great, in my opinion.  I guess No Country For Old Men was the best one.  There was plenty of action, and I followed the plots; but I was dismayed at the abrupt endings in TWBB and NCFOM.  I was also disappointed to learn that all three of these movies was adapted from or inspired by a novel.  That is, disappointed because I would’ve liked to read the books first.

• No Country For Old Men - Based on No Country For Old Men by Cormac McCarthy (2005)
  

I am going back to read each of these to see what they’re all about.  Better, no doubt, than their silver screen counterparts.  Still, all told, if you’re a movie buff and/or if you like Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, or Daniel Day-Lewis I would recommend watching these.  Maybe you’ll appreciate them more than we did!
